Empathetic Listening: Honoring, Understanding, and Listening to Employees

Empathetic Listening: Honoring, Understanding, and Listening to Employees

Hi! My name is Katherine Hartvickson of Quantum Ascendance, an HR Consulting & Leadership Development company. We help you develop your People and create sustainable Processes so that you enjoy a Profitable and Winning Culture.

This is the third tip in my video series on business communication. (You’ll find the other two videos in the resources section below.)

When employees don’t feel heard, it can lead to poor productivity, lack of motivation, and even lawsuits. That’s why it’s really important to create an environment where employees feel safe to share their thoughts and opinions, knowing their needs will be heard.

To improve communication at work you must listen from the heart with true interest, compassion, feeling, and insight.

That’s why I put together these tips for Empathic Listening: How to Be More Empathetic in Work Conversations — watch to learn:

  • How to pay attention to the message, tone, and body language
  • Why it’s important to connect with common values
  • When to use true empathy with the listener as they share their message

Watch Part 3 in the series for tips on Empathetic Listening.

That’s it! I hope you have enjoyed these lessons and will share them with others.  Thanks!
