Your Quantum Leadership Lesson: Bringing Your Team Together Through Cause Adoption
The most important thing to learn about being a boss is that people are always #1, the processes in your business are #2, and then the service or product you provide is #3.
If you don’t get the people-thing right the rest is just a hope and a prayer – not a plan.
It’s your people who will take care of your processes, products and customers. When they are happy, you will have happy customers who turn in to raving fans and tell others about your business!
One thing that will bring your team together is to adopt a cause that is important to them throughout the year.
This might be adopting a local orphanage or senior citizens care facility over the holidays and bringing them things they need – and things they will just enjoy.
Or it might be that you routinely spend time and money dressing up the place so that the children and senior citizens have a clean, well-maintained, inspiring environment. You might help them plant a garden and teach them how to grow some of their own food.
Some other things to consider are helping out local families, sponsoring school sports programs or cleaning up a neighborhood that is in need of repair and a little TLC.
To select the causes that are near and dear to your employees, ask them for recommendations and then allow them the time to volunteer their time and energy to making a difference.
They will thank you for it! Donating cash is commendable; donating energy is life-changing!
